Who Is Zuly?

My Short (but Meaningful) Story

My name is Zulay, though most people know me as Zuly. I was born in Colombia, I am married to a wonderful man originally from Idaho, and I am a mother of two children who inspire every step I take.

My story has been shaped by movement, faith, and service. In 2006, life led me to Venezuela, where I worked as a business administrator and served as a youth pastor at my church in Caracas. It was there that I met my husband, who arrived as a missionary to teach and serve. After walking together for some time, we married and united our lives and our calling.

Years later, with two children and many stories behind us, we felt called to settle in Texas—a place we now proudly call home.


The Craft Behind Every Layer

From a young age, I found joy in creating with my hands. The kitchen has always been a place of calm, expression, and purpose. Over time, that passion became a deep love for artisanal baking, especially croissants and laminated pastries, where patience, time, and technique are honored as part of the process.

Every dough is worked by hand.
Every fold requires rest.


Every bake is the result of hours sometimes days of dedication.

It is within this slow, intentional process that I found my voice.

Our bakery is born from a thoughtful blend of traditions that inspire me deeply:
the precision of Germany, the technique and elegance of France, and the heart and warmth of Colombia. From Germany, we embrace respect for the craft; from France, the mastery of lamination; and from Colombia, the soul, flavor, and hospitality that guide everything we do.



When we arrived in the United States, I entered a season of quiet searching. I didn’t speak the language, I didn’t know anyone, and I felt disconnected. One day, in prayer, a simple word brought clarity and purpose: “CAKE.” In that moment, I understood that I could transform my love for art, baking, and service into something that could also serve others.

At first, I baked simply to give. Each piece was practice, a lesson, and an offering. Over time came the first orders, the first sales, and the ability to invest in better tools. Every step was taken with faith and gratitude.


Today, Zuly’s is a bakery dedicated to croissants, laminated pastries, and handcrafted goods made from scratch, using quality ingredients and processes that respect time and tradition. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is improvised.

Each creation is paired with specialty coffee sourced directly from Colombia, honoring my roots and the origin of every bean. Here, coffee and bread meet as two crafts that share patience, intention, and love.


This is more than a bakery.
It is work done by hand.
It is time, layers, and tradition.
It is my story—shared with you, one piece at a time.
